Rasha El Fangry

Conflict & Change in partnership with Peace Direct, welcomes you to an inspirational evening to celebrate the key role women play in bringing people together in difficult circumstances.

The event will be held on the 27th April, 6-8 pm, at Ithaca House (27 Romford Rd, Stratford, E15 4LJ– see the map )

Keynote speaker will be Rasha El Fangry  who will share some of the challenges and triumphs she has experienced as a peace builder in Sudan.

Rasha el Fangry is a female leader in the traditional Muslim world of northern Sudan, a peace builder in a country deeply divided by a 21 year civil war,  and  a director of Collaborative for Peace in Sudanthe only local charity operating across the militarized  north-south divide. In this role she has helped to resolve tribal conflicts, trained people to participate in elections, persuaded women whose livelihood comes from inciting men to fight to learn a new occupation, and intervened in conflicts between oil companies and the communities in which they work. Working on the frontline of conflict in a country where women in leadership positions are rare, Rasha has won the trust of everyone who has met her.
