The Coffee and Chat on 28th April 09 was another step on the way to making North Woolwich and Silvertown an area where neighbours know each other and there is community spirit. This is the aim of the five local people who organised the grand winter party at St Johns on 28th February and they were delighted that nine new people now want to get involved too.
At the Coffee and Chat event people found out a bit about each other and shared together what they had enjoyed about the party. They also shared with each other many reasons why community spirit is so important and how nice it is to bump into people you know. Lots of ideas came up for the next event including a suggestion to hold a picnic over the park or another party. Everyone was agreed that the event should include everyone and so to be free, or very cheap, and attract people from all walks of life.
Twelve out of twelve people wanted to help to take the ideas forward. Now Sarjoh and volunteers Shukri and Hanin will meet with the group regularly to support them to plan the next community event, for locals by locals
