We’re recruiting once more for our TRUCE 2020 youth project in conflict resolution. We’re looking for young people aged 16-21 who live in the LBN, who are interested in making a positive contribution in our community and who are committed, reliable and responsible.
The programme is 10 weeks long (every Wednesday evening), starting on 24th February at the Hartley Centre, Barking Road, East Ham. It’s free and OCN accredited. It also includes a fantastic weekend residential.
Throughout the programme young people are equipped with conflict resolution skills that support them in developing conflict resolution related projects, but also projects that address community development and peace building. As part of the course the participants also have a unique and empowering opportunity to meet and share their experience with a local peace builder from a 'hot' conflict area. So far, TRUCE participants have met with peace builders from Congo, Sri Lanka, Kashmir and Mozambique. TRUCE 20/20 is a partnership project between Conflict and Change and Peace Direct.

We’re going to be holding ‘taster’ sessions, which are led by TRUCE graduates and give the young people opportunity to ask questions and find out more about our project. A short interview with the project manager will then guarantee them a place on the next cohort. The taster sessions are going to be held in Conflict and Change, East Ham on the 20th, 25th of January and 3rd, 10th and 17th of February.
Maybe you have a son, daughter, neighbour or your colleague at work has a teenager that fits the bill? If you think they might be interested in and benefit from this training or have any questions then please contact Klaudia on 0208 552 2050 or klaudia@conflictandchange.co.uk.
We also do much of our recruitment through youth organisations. If you know anyone working with young people (eg: teachers at secondary schools or colleges, youth workers at community centres or faith groups) then we’d really appreciate you passing on their details. This is a great way to get young people involved as the information about TRUCE will be passed on by somebody they already know.
TRUCE has received some great press attention lately which you might find interesting.
