AGM volunteers awards AGM working at table AGM truce 2020

Conflict and Change celebrated it’s AGM on Monday November 9th at Flanders Community Centre in East Ham.
People who came heard from people working to build community both internationally and locally.

Albino Forquilha from Mozambique, spoke about how his organisation was responsible for the decommissioning of 80,0000 guns after the civil war in Mozambique and is now running a community policing programme there.
His talk was followed by stories from several Conflict and Change volunteers who have taken initiatives to build community in Newham this year.

Simon Gibson trains people in conflict resolution and communication skills, Halima Hussain facilitates meetings for people from different backgrounds to meet and talk, as part of a community conversations project. Brandon Mukakwezi has brought together a group for local parents in her neighbourhood in Forest Gate to develop regular activities for their children like a family picnic, sports and parties and Debbie Scott mediates family and neighbour disputes.

A group of  impressive young volunteers from a peace building leadership programme for 16-21 year olds TRUCE 20/20 described the activities they are doing  including delivering  conflict resolution workshop in schools.
