Interpersonal Skills

Conflict and Change’s training team has many years of experience working with individuals and organisations in Newham, helping people developing their communication skills and training people how to resolve conflicts at home, work and in the community. We also offer training courses in mediation. In recent years we’ve also started to offer workshops in anger management, confidence building and assertiveness training for people and organisations in the community.

Information about possible workshops/training opportunities:

Communication skills

This workshop focuses on how we can be more effective in our communication with others, how to deal with differences of opinion, and how to get people to listen to what is important to us. In the workshop we also explore how to communicate more effectively with people across cultural differences.

Conflict resolution

At Conflict & Change we recognise that conflict is an inevitable part of life. Whereas we can’t completely eliminate conflict from our lives, we can learn how to manage conflict in a helpful way, so that conflict becomes an opportunity for improving our relationships with others and helps us clarify what we need. As a result, conflict can become a chance for positive growth that enhances our general well-being and the way in which we relate to other people at home, work and in the community.

Anger management

Rather than suppressing or denying our anger, we believe that in order for us to live healthy lives, we need to be able to acknowledge and express our anger in such a way that it doesn’t hurt ourselves or others. In this workshop, we share our insight into the underlying meaning and purpose of anger, and skills for how to manage anger constructively.

Mediation

This workshop is designed for people who have covered the previous topics and would like to learn more about how to help other people who are in conflict. Building on an awareness of our own ways of dealing with conflict (a necessity for being able to help others in conflict), we introduce skills and possible frameworks that a third party can use to help others resolve conflict.

Confidence building and assertiveness training

Would you like to feel more at ease in your communication with other people? Are you struggling to express to others what is important to you, what you need? Would you like to engage more in your local community but feel you lack the confidence to do so? If any of these apply to you, then this course is for you.
