Conflict and Change

Posted in

We began as the UK's first community mediation organisation in 1984, and we are now engaged in four main areas of work:

Conflict Resolution

  • We help people in dispute to talk with each other, understand each others' needs and find a way forward using mediation.
  • Local volunteers representing the communities of Newham form our team of mediators.

Children and Young People

  • We run programmes in local schools to help children, young people, and the adults who work with them to deal constructively with conflict.
  • Conflict resolution workshops for children and young people.
  • Training for student mediators and student workshop leaders.

Training

  • We run accredited training courses in working with conflict for people who would like to become volunteer mediators with us and for others interested in conflict resolution skills.
  • We run workplace training for local agencies in working with conflict.
  • We train people to become trainers.

Community Development

  • We listen to different communities' ways of responding to conflict
  • Then we work together to build existing skills through workshops in conflict resolution and communication.
  • We look for opportunities to build bridges between communities.
