We began as the UK's first community mediation organisation in 1984, and we are now engaged in four main areas of work:
- We help people in dispute to talk with each other, understand each others' needs and find a way forward using mediation.
- Local volunteers representing the communities of Newham form our team of mediators.
- We run programmes in local schools to help children, young people, and the adults who work with them to deal constructively with conflict.
- Conflict resolution workshops for children and young people.
- Training for student mediators and student workshop leaders.
- We run accredited training courses in working with conflict for people who would like to become volunteer mediators with us and for others interested in conflict resolution skills.
- We run workplace training for local agencies in working with conflict.
- We train people to become trainers.
- We listen to different communities' ways of responding to conflict
- Then we work together to build existing skills through workshops in conflict resolution and communication.
- We look for opportunities to build bridges between communities.
