Changemakers

The ChangeMakers initiative is aimed at people in Newham, especially our volunteers who want to bring people together using creative approaches. As part of our Community Development /bridge building work we have been working with our volunteers to bring people from different cultures/ethnicities/faiths together in their areas so that they can have Changemakers planning meetingan opportunity to know each other and build relationships in the long term. Some of the activities that have been organised in the past include picnic in the park, street parties, winter parties, singing groups, etc.

Conflict and Change offers a two days training for people wanting to make a  difference in their community. The training is then followed by  ongoing support, coaching and mentoring sessions with the Community development worker to help shape the ChangeMaker ideas in to a concrete and feasible project. Peer learning and support is an integral aspect of the ChangeMakers initiative. ChangeMakers are encouraged to keep the ideas small, simple, feasible and one that can be done with less resources. It is anticipated that through these initiatives ChangeMakers can inspire other people in their community/ neighbourhood to become active in the wider community.

If you are interested in the ChangeMakers initiative please contact the Community Development officer on 020 8552 2050 or email sarjoh@conflictandchange.co.uk . There will be an opportunity to meet with some of our ChangeMakers who have had practical experience of doing bridge building activities in the community.
