Discover and enjoy all those things people hold in common:
(values, interests, concerns)
Breaking the ice, building relationships + community spirit
Hear, share, discover and understand the differences
A space to hear all the voices within a community
Express the difficulties that arise from the differences
A safe way to address underlying community tensions
We have run 80 Community Conversations in partnership with Community Centres, Community Forums, primary schools, officers and councillors, faith groups, youth groups, neighbourhood watches etc. We are proud to have a team of local, diverse volunteers working on this project as both facilitators and mediators. We are grateful to EHRC for funding the continuation of this work from January 2010.
Please see our Community Conversations learning document for full information about over work over the past three years.
We have developed two types of Community Conversations:
- 1. Getting to Know You
- "Getting To Know You" workshops are for people in the same neighbourhood who don't normally mix. They have an informal and positive focus that helps people to discover how much they have in common.
St Johns Get to know you 28th April 2009
2. Dialogue on Difference
"Dialogue on Difference or Difficult Topics" provides a safe and structured space to hear, share and understand different experiences and views on "hot" issues.
