Welcome to Global Exchange volunteers!!!

For the next three months there will be two Global Xchange volunteers working, in Newham, on the Truce 2020 project with Conflict & Change. The Global Xchange is a volunteer programme that works by bringing together various cultures. There are 10 UK volunteers and 10 overseas volunteers; in this case the exchange was between Newham and Nigeria. Natasha and Abbas have already completed the first stage of the exchange, which was held in Cross River State, Nigeria:

Young People and Recent Riots in our Communities

It is a hard time for young people however you cut it: unemployment; rising costs in post secondary school education; and cuts to spending on services targeting the needs of young people. And now we have the easy tendency to malign youth in the wake of the recent rioting here in Newham across London.

The Truce 20/20 project offers Newham young people 16-21 the opportunity to complete an OCN and YAA accredited ‘Peace Builders’ Workshop’, run over consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6-8.30pm for 10 weeks, including a residential weekend complete with outdoor activities.
