Conflict Resolution

Funding Cut; How can I help?

Conflict & Change has been informed by London Borough of Newham that it plans to stop commissioning our community (neighbour) mediation services from the end of this financial year.
We would like your support to encourage London Borough of Newham to reconsider its decision and to continue commissioning this crucial local service.
Our community mediation service is a proven effective way of supporting people in Newham to find positive ways out of various kinds of conflict they are facing, such as arguments with neighbours about noise, littering or anti-social behaviour. We have over 25 years of expertise of working in Newham and since 2000 have supported over 3600 local people through the mediation process. 78% of our mediation cases have had a positive outcome in the past five years when both parties were willing to the process.
So, what can you do?

  1. You can sign our online petition to show your support.
  2. Write a letter or email to Robin Wales (Newham Mayor), your Newham MP and your local Councillors.
  3. Use our mediation service yourself or make a referral to us.
  4. Read case studies and positive feedback from former mediation clients, and find out about the history of the service.
  5. Find out more about other organisations protesting against public service cuts in the local area.

News and Stories

Letter from a client

The following letter was sent to us at Conflict & Change by one of our clients:

We have lived in Newham for 1½ years in a ground floor flat, and we have been having trouble with our neighbour who kept making a lot of noise. We went to [another organisation] who did not class the banging and thumping as a noise nuisance, so we contacted the Housing Officer and he recommended that we contact Newham Conflict & Change.

Family Conflicts

Family problems

Talking heads

We have been helping families deal with conflicts for many years - sometimes it's the parents who are fighting, and sometimes it's between the parents and the children. Whatever the situation, if you'd like help to resolve the problem, we can come and meet with you in your own home, and give you space and time to talk about what's happening.
